Register for The Walk To Cure Diabetes

WALK SCHEDULE

9:00 -11:30 a.m. Check-in & Registration

11:30 a.m. Approximately 1.5 mile walk

9 a.m.-Noon Pre-Walk Festivities

CHECK IN/REGISTRATION INFORMATION

When you arrive on site, visit the registration tent to turn in your official Walk collection envelope.  Please fill out your envelope completely. Each Walker should submit his/her own envelope. Remember:

  • Enclose matching gift forms.
  • Checks should be made payable to JDRF.
  • If you raised all of your donations on-line, print out a list from your participant center to turn in.
  • Receipts for cash are not provided.
  • Tax letters for checks of $100 or more will be mailed to the donor.

Each Walker who stops by the registration tent and who has raised a minimum of $100 will receive an official Walk to Cure Diabetes T-shirt. One shirt per Walker please.

WALK WAIVER

Every Walker must sign a waiver in order to participate in Walk. The easiest way to do that is register online!

If for some reason you can’t – print this form, sign it and submit at registration on Walk day.

**Capital Metro now makes scheduled stops along Alterra Parkway. Please be advised that there may be momentary interruptions in our Walk along Alterra Parkway between Esperanza and Palm Way. For your protection, please observe all safety regulations and thank you for your patience.

PARKING INSTRUCTIONS:

Parking is complimentary. Event parking located in the IBM Parking Lot. Enter off of Braker Lane at Domain Drive, observe parking signs and parking attendants for your convenience. Carpooling is encouraged. Expect and be prepared for delays upon arrival and departure.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:  

  • #466 Bus route stops at Esperanza Crossing/Domain
  • #240/#466 routes stop at Burnet/Palm

T-SHIRT CONTEST

9 a.m.-11 a.m. Walk Day: Drop off one of your Team T-shirts at the T-shirt Tent in the park….Don’t forget the earlier you drop off your shirt, the better your odds are to get votes!

9 a.m.- 11 a.m.: T-shirt Voting, pick your favorite shirt and vote!

The winners will be announced the week following Walk!

TEAM TENTS & ROUTE SIGNS

Congratulations if you qualified for a Team Tent and/or a Route Sign! Your hard work and fundraising paid off to help turn type one, in to type none! Please see below for a  few reminders regarding these FUN incentives:

TEAM TENTS:

If you qualified, JDRF will provide you with one 10×10 tent and a team sign. The tent is a great place for your team’s walkers to meet and celebrate all of your success. We encourage you to make it your own- decorate it, bring snacks/drinks and have fun with it! You are welcome to decorate your tent beginning Sunday, October 26th  at 8:00 a.m.

  • You will have (1) 10×10 Tent with (1) SIGN with your Team Name- please feel welcome to take sign upon departure. Also, don’t forget to take your Route Sign!
  • Feel welcome to bring (1) table, pop-up chairs and decorate the tent (The tents are rented; please do not do anything that will ruin the integrity of the tent. No paint, staples, tape, glue, etc.)
  • You are welcome to begin setting up and/or decorating your team tent beginning at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, October 26th Please be mindful you will not be permitted to drive on Alterra Parkway to drop off tent materials. You will park in the IBM parking lot and walk with any items you bring for your tents.
  • Upon arrival to the Walk Site, you will be able to find your tent by the TEAM NAME sign. Team Tents are located in the South End of the  Domain park off Alterra Parkway

The following items are prohibited:

o   Additional or personal tents

o   Soliciting or selling from your tent area

o   Alcohol

o   Glass containers

o   Littering and/or dumping

o   Fires/Grills

o   Unleashed pets

 

ROUTE SIGNS:

Don’t forget after Walk is over, take your sign home as a keepsake!

TEAM PHOTOS

#keeping up with the times there will be  volunteers available to take pictures with your smart phone and anyone on your team who wants a picture taken. Friendly reminder – bring your smart phone or for the true “photogs” bring your cameras! Please note: if you are waiting on team members to arrive and a smaller team walks up please allow them to step in and quickly take their picture.
