T1D in the Fast Lane

JDRF and Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD) joined forces to help raise awareness and funds for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research through the “Our Everyday Heroes” Race Car Design Contest for JDRF. The winning design was painted onto the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car driven by Bob Tasca III. The contest has raised over $300,000 for the cause.

The winner of Fordā€™s 2013 ā€œOur Everyday Heroesā€ Race Car Design Contest for JDRF is Blake Lillicraf, age 14, of Trumbull, CT. Blake was diagnosed with T1D this past November. Blake and his family traveled to the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL on June 28-30, to watch Bob Tasca III race his funny car at speeds faster than 300 mph.

This year, the contest raised more than $57,000 for T1D research. Thank you to everyone who participated and promoted the program, your support went a long way! Thanks to Ford Motor Company, FCSD, Motorcraft, Quick Lane, and Bob Tasca III for partnering with JDRF on this program and year-round.
