Rockin’ the Cure

in

Noelle Buckwalter rocks. And this  year, as the JDRF Gala Fund-A-Cure Ambassador, she is going Rock the Cure. Noelle was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) on May 31, 2013 – a day she and her family will never forget.

At 10 years of age Noelle had to come to terms with the word “forever”. She would have T1D forever. She would have to take shots forever. This new life filled with finger pricks, needles, insulin, carb counting, constant doctors visits, and worry would be forever. But, rather than accept those forevers, Noelle and her family are working hard to try to change their future.

Noelle and her family have met the challenge of their new life with T1D head on and with a positive attitude. They are taking action to make a difference for Noelle and for all T1Ds. Noelle has been an advocate for T1D by educating her friends, classmates, teachers, and family members about the disease. She has participated in JDRF events and raise almost $20,000 for further research.

Our family will fight everyday to find a cure for Noelle and all those battling Type 1, and we know that the JDRF will keep fighting with us! We are so grateful for the hope that JDRF has given us. Hope for better treatments. Hope for fewer complications. Hope for days with less worry. Hope for a cure. Hope that one day Noelle will be able to say “ I used to have Type 1 Diabetes!”

You can join Noelle and her family as they work to create a world without T1D by becoming a Fund-A-Cure donor. Your 100% tax-deductible Fund-A-Cure contribution will drive research toward Encapsulation therapies and other critical JDRF research priorities.

The 2015 JDRF “Rock the Cure” Gala is on April 18th, with a special guest appearance by celebrity T1D Bret Michaels!
