JDRF Mentor Program Update

JDRF has been working aggressively to improve the JDRF Mentor Program and we are excited to announce that new changes will be coming in the new year!

As part of this change we would like to grow our current list of dedicated mentors. The Central Pennsylvania Chapter is looking for local T1D’s (age 16 and older) as well as parents of T1D’s who have been diagnosed for at least one year, who are willing to provide council and guidance to newly diagnosed individuals and families.

Each JDRF Mentor is REQUIRED to complete the mandatory JDRF Mentor Training Program, which will be hosted by Central Pennsylvania Chapter, in late January/Early February of 2017.

The objective of JDRF’s Mentoring Program is to provide support and resources to anyone impacted by T1D and to make JDRF an important part of their life. This includes anyone living with the day-to-day challenges of T1D, from newly diagnosed families and adults — to adults who have lived with it for years. While JDRF Mentors support the T1D community, they also play an important  role in introducing those you mentor to the JDRF family and helping them find their place within the organization. A strong Mentor Program is the foundation of a strong and successful JDRF chapter.

If you are interested in becoming a JDRF Central PA Mentor please complete the Mentor Program Interest Form and scan it back to lwilcox@jdrf.org, fax it to 717.901.6573 or mail it to JDRF Central PA Chapter, ATTN: Lauren Wilcox, 3009 Market St, Camp Hill, PA 17011.

We are looking forward to positive changes in 2017! Please contact Lauren Wilcox, Development Coordinator at lwilcox@jdrf.org with any questions regarding the Mentor Program.
