On August 15th, 83 golfers teed off at the beautiful, private grounds of Hartefeld National in Avondale, Pa., for the second annual Chip In for a Cure golf outing. Following lunch by Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, a Noon shotgun scramble kicked off the annual event that was hosted by Hockessin Athletic Club.
Players beat the summer heat by a volunteer-led “pit stop,” where players received ice-soaked towels, various beverages and a bit of pampering before driving carts on to the next hole. Giveaways, raffle prizes, dinner and awards closed the event, which raised over $16,000. In the past two years the outing locally raised more than $31,500 for type 1 diabetes research. Thank you to Hockessin Athletic Club and Hartefeld National Golf Club for hosting the annual event, as well as Hopkins & Sons for their continued sponsorship support.
The 2017 date will be announced soon! To join the golf committee, sponsor the outing or mark you interest to play as an individual or foursome, please call the JDRF office at 302.888.1117 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
