Making a Local Impact on the Future of T1D: The JDRF Delaware Hope Ball
Thank you for everyone’s generous support of the 16th annual JDRF Hope Ball! The event was held on April 29, 2017 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware and featured an array of silent and live auctions, phenomenal décor and entertainment, Fund A Cure and dancing the night away in Rio’s Carnival!
More than 200 guests joined us and helped raise nearly $214,925 in support of our mission to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. The event is only $5,025 away from reaching our goal! Please consider supporting Fund A Cure with a donation so that we can fulfill the local commitment we’ve made to the scientists and researchers who are working on life-changing T1D research. Please visit our website to make a Fund A Cure donation, where 100% goes directly to JDRF research, or call us directly at 302-888-1117. Thank you for your support!
Scott Klatzkin, the Voice of the University of Delaware Blue Hens, served as our Master of Ceremonies and lit up the room with energy and excitement for another year! Scott has been part of JDRF since childhood, as a member of the McEntee Family’s Walk to Cure Diabetes team and later the emcee for both the JDRF One Walk and Hope Ball.

A special thanks to our Fund A Cure speakers – The McEntee Family, The Pincura Family, The Raley Family and The Shoe Family – for opening your hearts to sharing your story in support of finding a cure for T1D. Fund A Cure donations were given at the $5000, $2500, $1000, $500, $250 and $125 levels!
Please consider making a donation to Fund A Cure and help us close our funding gap of $5,025. 100% of Fund A Cure donations go to the vital mission of JDRF. To make a donation, please visit our website or call JDRF at 302-888-1117. Thank you!
This year, it was our privilege to honor the Department of Endocrinology at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children for their commitment to helping families living with T1D. Dr. Anthony Gannon, a Pediatric Endocrinologist at Nemours, accepted the award on behalf of the department. In Dr. Gannon’s acceptance speech, he spoke of how he and his colleagues are grateful for the honor but that the true honorees are the children, parents and families. Thank you to the entire Department of Endocrinology for your unwavering support!
Auctioneer Paul Schultz had a rhythm of his own while running through the Live Auction’s 11 fabulous packages. Foodies bid on the chance to dine at the renowned Talula’s Table or bring home the Italian cuisine and performance by Paul Cullen of “Bad Company.” Sports fans rallied for the chance to play golf with the Philadelphia Flyers’ Ian Laperriere, and one lucky couple walked away dreaming of their next vacation cruise aboard Holland America. It was an evening of action, excitement and generosity of many!
Save the Date: April 28, 2018
