GREETINGS FROM THE EAST TENNESSEE BRANCH!

Together we will be known as the people who cured diabetes.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the world's leading nonprofit, nongovernmental sponsor of diabetes research, was founded in 1970 by the parents of children with juvenile diabetes--a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $1 billion to diabetes research worldwide, including $98 million in FY2005. JDRF is proud to say that, in a typical year, more than 80 percent of expenditures go directly to research and education about research (83.7 percent in FY 05). JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

The East Tennessee Branch of JDRF was founded in 1982 and continues to provide information and support to East Tennessee residents affected with diabetes. JDRF is dedicated to raising funds for research, and in East Tennessee we are doing this through three highly successful Walks, a Golf Tournament and our annual Dream Gala. Our goal is to raise $1 million in East Tennessee alone this year.

If you or a family member were recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, contact our office regarding our Bag of Hope program.
