Each year, JDRF One Walks throughout the state of Georgia bring together more than 10,000 participants to change the future for people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Each JDRF One Walk event creates a fun, family–friendly environment and gives people with T1D—and their network —the opportunity to raise money for life-changing T1D research. They walk to help JDRF ease the incredible burden of this disease for the millions affected, until we create a world without T1D.
On Saturday, September 30th we kicked off our Walk season in Columbus, GA. We had a record breaking turnout and have raised $75,000 and counting to date!
Next up we have the JDRF One Walk in Athens on Sunday, October 8th! If you haven’t registered yet it’s not too late. Register here and join us for a fun filled day while we make strides to cure T1D.
Last but not least, we are 16 days away from the 36th Annual JDRF One Walk in Atlanta. We’ve made great progress towards achieving our goal of $1.2 million, but we still need your help. Register for JDRF One Walk in Atlanta today and help us turn Type One into Type None.
We are excited to share that for the second time we have a family serving as Event Chairs for the JDRF One Walk. Special thanks to Adam, Rachel, Carson & Parker Bassing for taking on this special role. The Bassing Family has been participating in the JDRF One Walk since their son, Carson, was diagnosed 3 years ago and has cumulatively raised $50,000 to date!
A message from the Bassing Family (pictured below):
Participating in the JDRF One Walk is one of the most meaningful ways that the T1D community comes together to make a difference… we invite you to join us! We attended our first Walk after our son, Carson, was diagnosed at the age of 9. We didn’t know anyone else with T1D, so we couldn’t wait to attend our first Walk to meet other T1D families. We had such a great time and were so encouraged! There is so little you can control when it comes to T1D, but participating in the Walk with our friends and family has given us strength and support. The JDRF One Walk has become a family tradition that we all look forward to each year.
