Who We Are
The Atlanta Young Leadership Committee (YLC) is a direct extension of the Georgia Chapter of JDRF – one of the nation’s leading non-profits, and an indomitable force in the fight against Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The YLC is comprised of ambitious young professionals in the greater Atlanta area, who share the same purpose in treating, preventing, and ultimately curing T1D. Our approach is simple: Put the “Fun” back into fundraising, through various events throughout the year where we bring together a bunch of great individuals for exciting and impactful events.
To get involved with that Atlanta Young Leadership Committee, please contact Joe Madden, the Atlanta YLC President.
Rock the Cure
Rock the Cure (RTC) began in 2006 as a dream of some young professionals in Atlanta wanting to raise money to cure Type 1 diabetes but also have fun while doing it. This group felt “overlooked” in the current fundraising activities taking place on behalf of JDRF. The Gala reaches an older demographic and the Walk tends to attract corporate teams and families. Wanting to find a niche to educate and involve this proactive age group, a party at SweetWater Brewery seemed to be the answer.
Rock the Cure has grown over the years and become a mainstay at SweetWater, drawing the biggest crowds they have seen from a third-party event. Completing its 11th year in 2017, Rock the Cure continues to grow and is being replicated throughout the country at other JDRF chapters.
Over the past 11 years, RTC has raised over $875,000 towards a cure for type 1 diabetes and Rock the Cure will continue on until we can find that cure. Our 12th Annual Rock the Cure will be held, Saturday June 9th! This could be the year that Rock the Cure cumulatively surpassed the $1 million mark, so come out and raise a glass to finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes!
