Promise Ball- Through the Looking Glass on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Marriott Marquis Houston

Ambassadors play a significant role in the evening’s festivities by helping welcome guests and assisting with special portions of the ballroom programing at this black tie event which raised more than $1.6 million for JDRF funded research last year.  Each Ambassador’s presence is an opportunity to help raise awareness about type 1 and thank the generous Gala patrons who are helping JDRF fund a cure through their support of the Promise Ball.

There are a limited number of spots available each year for Gala Youth Ambassadors, so participants are selected through an application process via committee.  Applications and photos are due no later than Wednesday, January 24, 2018. All applicants will be notified January 26, 2018.

2018 Gala Youth Ambassador Application

Ambassador Guidelines:

-Must be a child between the ages of 6-17 living with type 1 diabetes.

-Ambassador should have an outgoing personality and sunny disposition and be willing to greet, interact with and thank Gala patrons in a variety of roles throughout the evening.

-Must be able to participate in the Ambassador Photo Shoot on Saturday, February 10th at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, located at 8800 Technology Forest Pl. The Woodlands, TX 77381. (Appointments will be scheduled in 1 hour intervals.)

-Participation in Gala Youth Ambassador Art Project for the Promise Ball’s Silent Auction – this will be completed on a flexible schedule for the families in the coming weeks. More details TBA.

-At least one parent must attend the Promise Ball either through purchasing tickets or volunteering at the Gala on Saturday April 21st at Marriott Marquis Houston.

-Ambassadors are also asked to donate a Southwest Airlines gift certificate towards the Gala’s Auction at a suggested minimum value of $75 – These travel airline miles will help create a splendid destination package. This contribution will be in the Gala program, highlighting our Ambassadors.
