Run BeCAUSE TeamThirteen high school athletes and friends have teamed up to present the Run BeCAUSE Charity Run at Indian Hill Park in Winnetka on Sunday June 12, 2016. Run BeCAUSE is a community run featuring themed mile-long races to benefit different charities.

This year, JDRF will proudly be the beneficiary for the inaugural run. In the years to come, Run BeCAUSE will strive to bring the community together to put their best foot forward for a philanthropic cause and unite everyone under the values of team spirit, friendship and generosity. Additionally, the RunBeCAUSE Committee aspires to motivate younger athletes to grow up conscious of the importance and impact of giving back

“It’s impressive to see how all these young-adultā€™s passion for running and sports has inspired them to give back at a time we are getting so close to improving the lives of many dealing with the challenges of Type 1,” said Mimi K. Crabtree, Executive Director, JDRF Illinois.

The inaugural run will be held in the early morning and will consist of various heats for the mile-long event. Run BeCAUSE encourages families, students, and people of all skill levels to join and support a wonderful cause while enjoying friendly competition. Following the race, there will be a festive gathering with live music, games, and light food.

The Run BeCAUSE Founding Committee hopes to give back to various beneficiaries by changing the charity partners in future years. In doing this, they are not solely acknowledging one group of people or cause, rather they are looking to bring together everyone in the community who may have family and/or friends in their lives who battle lifetime challenges. Their goal is to generate interest, spirit and support towards the run itself and the planning process in order to achieve meaningful results and a solid foundation for years to come.
