JDRF Announces Fairfield County Childrens Congress Delegate

Five-year-old, Delilah Brien of Greenwich was selected as this years Fairfield County Childrens Congress Delegate.  JDRF received nearly 1,500 applications for the 2009 Childrens Congress Delegates; thats a 35% increase in submissions over 2006, so you can imagine the difficult task presented to the CC09 Selection Committee!

Delilah will be among approximately 200 delegates, ages 2 to 17, who will head to Washington, DC to meet with her House of Representative members during the 111th Congress from June 22-24.  Delegates are asked to advocate during the 6 to 7 months prior to the Childrens Congress.   Please join the JDRF Fairfield County Chapter in congratulating Delilah and wishing her well.  We know that she will do a wonderful job representing our young people in Washington.

 JDRF New Social Networking Website

JDRF has a new social networking website, Juvenation.com.  Over the weekend, a message went out to many of JDRF's technology-savvy constituents - e-newsletter recipients and Facebook group members - announcing the launch of http://www.juvenation.org/

The Juvenation logo and a link are also now on the JDRF website homepage (www.jdrf.org).  As a result, Juvenation membership has reached some 1,400 in the past week - which probably makes it one of the larger type 1 diabetes social networks out there, even though it's only a few weeks old.  We wanted to let you know this good news.  Please feel free to share this new site.
