The Central Oklahoma Chapter serves 50 counties throughout central and western Oklahoma.  The Chapter has an active board of 40 members and nine committees including: Walk to Cure Diabetes, Black and White Ball, Ride to Cure Diabetes, Marketing/Communications, Corporate Partners, Government Relations, Major Donors, Nominating and Outreach. The chapter is staffed with an Executive Director, Special Events Coordinator and part-time Administrative Assistant.

Currently the chapter hosts two annual special events, the Walk To Cure Diabetes and Black and White Ball. The chapter also participates in one national Ride to Cure Diabetes each year.

As the chapter grows, greater emphasis is being placed on outreach efforts. The Bag of Hope is an education and outreach program available through the chapter that is designed to reach young children and teenagers with diabetes and their families at the time of diagnosis. The Bag of Hope contains a comprehensive collection of educational and comforting materials for the entire family. The chapter's long-range plans include the establishment of support groups covering topics from initial diagnosis to adolescence issues and beyond.

Volunteers are always needed and appreciated, whether assisting in the office, serving as a government relations advocate, or working on a committee or an event. If you have a little bit of time to give and want to make a big difference in the search for the cure, contact the office for information on available opportunities.
