The Northern New England Branch is part of the New England Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Branch covers Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The Northern New England Branch works to raise money to support JDRF's mission:

**** People who are overweight, adults 45 years of age or older, people with elevated blood pressure or high cholesterol, people who are physically inactive, people with a family history of diabetes, women who have given birth to babies larger than 9 lbs, or history of gestational diabetes, those with an American Indian, African American and Hispanic ethnic background ***

Held in odd-numbered years, JDRF's Children's Congress brings more than 150 children with type 1 diabetes and their families to Washington, D.C. Children's Congress participants represent all 50 states and the District of Columbia. They meet with Members of Congress and other key federal decision-makers to help educate them about the critical need for federal funding for Type 1 diabetes research. There is HELP in your community. BAG OF HOPE contains a variety of educational and comforting support materials - some geared to the child and some geared to their caregivers - the most popular of which is Rufus, the bear with diabetes, but also includes a support video, children's books, and an Accu-Check Blood Glucose Meter. | |

JDRF KIDS ONLINE: Gives kids great ideas and strategies on how to talk about diabetes with their friends and teachers, make good food and exercise choices, and information on checking blood sugars and taking insulin. Also, pen pal with other children living with diabetes. |

2009 Maine and New Hampshire Walk to Cure Diabetes!!!
THANK YOU to all of the families, teams and individuals for joining us rain or shine to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's mission to find a Cure! Here are the totals, to date, for the Walk sites:
