Check out the Walk Kids' Corner!
Don't forget to visit our Kids' Corner on Walk Day!  There will be fun and entertainment for all age groups!  Team Play Events will put on a show, with games and contests.  Also featured will be kids' dance acts and video games, courtesy of Games2You.  And for the little ones, Dora The Explorer and Diego will be walking around, taking pictures!
 
2009 Walk to Cure Diabetes
 
Walk to Cure Diabetes is this Sunday, November 8th! Here are some final tips.
 
When:         Gates open at 8:00 am               
                  Registration opens 8:15 am
                  Program begins at 8:25 am
                  Walk begins at 10:00 am Sharp!

Where:         Dodger Stadium        
                   1000 Elysian Park Ave.
                   Los Angeles, CA 90012
 
Goal:            15,000 Walkers  
                   $2.4 million for diabetes research

Bring your family and friends! 
 
Parking 
Parking is free on Walk Day. The main Sunset Gate (Elysian Park Ave) Golden State Gate (Academy Dr.) and Downtown Gates will open at 8:00 am. Volunteers will direct you to the appropriate parking lot. Academy Gate will not be open.

Registration
Already Registered: If you've registered at www.jdrf.org, go to General Registration to drop off any additional donations you have with you. If your team has qualified for a team booth by raising more than $2,500, go to  General Registration to find your team booth location on the site map and turn in any donations you have with you.
Not Yet Registered: Go to General Registration to complete a registration form and turn in any donations you have. Staff and volunteers will assist you.
 
T-shirts
Go to the T-Shirt Booth to pick up your JDRF Walk t-shirt. One t-shirt per person, please. First come first serve.
 
If you have team t-shirts, don't forget to bring an extra shirt for the t-shirt contest! T-shirts entered into the contest can be turned in at the T-Shirt Booth as well. 

 
What to Bring

1.  Your walker donations - sealed in your completed collection envelope (found in Walk brochure).  Envelopes can also be found at Registration and at Team Booths on Walk day

2.  Sunscreen and/or umbrella - We walk rain or shine!

3.  Sweater for the morning chill and sunglasses for the afternoon sun

4.  Comfortable walking shoes

5.  Your favorite goodies, snacks or money for concessions

6.  Your team t-shirt

7.  Sample of your team t-shirt for the team t-shirt contest turn into registration or t-shirt booth

Kristen Stewart and Sugar Ray Leonard, Celebrity Walk Ambassadors!
 
Kristen Stewart, star of the hit movie Twilight and championship boxer, Sugar Ray Leonard will kick off the JDRF 2009 Walk to Cure Diabetes.  Arrive by 9:15am to see them on stage.
Donation Drop Off Instructions for Walk Day
 
1) Please Confirm the following on all Collection Envelopes:
  • Amount Enclosed - please verify this figure
  • Sign waiver on bottom of envelope
  • If eligible, please remember to choose your incentive prize
2) Drop off all monies and collection envelopes to one of the designated Donation Drop-Off Ticket Booths or at Registration. There will not be a staff member going booth to booth this year to collect donations. 
 
Who should checks be made payable to?
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or JDRF.  Please remember to include your team name and walker name in the memo line so we can ensure that your funds are properly credited to your family or company walk team. 
  
Does JDRF provide donation receipts?
Donors who have written a check to JDRF for $250 or above will receive a letter of receipt from JDRF, after the walk. For checks written to JDRF for $249 and under, the canceled check serves as a receipt for tax purposes.
 
What do I do when someone make's the check out to my team name? 
Please endorse it to JDRF, we can deposit it.

When is the deadline to turn in pledges to JDRF and how do I submit post-Walk monies?
The deadline for turning in Walk money to JDRF for pledge prize and award eligibility is December 31, 2009. To help ensure that funds are properly credited, please enclose a note with the monies that includes: walker name, walk site and team name. You can keep fundraising after the walk through December 31.

Walk Awards and Prizes

 
After the Walk, when will team results be available?
Preliminary team results will be available to Team Captains as soon as 2 weeks after the walk.  Final results will be available after the December 31, 2009 pledge deadline.  
 

What pledge prizes are available this year?

Walkers raising $200 or more are eligible to receive some terrific prizes ranging from JDRF Walk merchandise to the option to select an item out of JDRF's new "Gift Catalog." This catalog is stocked full of great prizes including electronics, housewares, jewelry, bicycles and more! Check out the prizes and awards levels atwww.jdrf.org/greatprizes.

 

When will prizes be ordered? 

Prizes will be ordered in Spring 2010.
