Home       About the Campaign      New Realities in Research      Improving Your Reality

In 2004, JDRF launched the Research to Reality Campaign with the goal of raising $1 billion over five years to accelerate the cure for diabetes. Thanks to you, we have done that and more!

Your support has helped JDRF make dramatic advances in research over the past five years. Please explore this site to learn more about the campaign, the new realities in research we have achieved and some of the many ways JDRF is working hard to improve the reality of life with diabetes.

Thank you for your generosity.

To All Who Supported JDRF and the Research to Reality Campaign:

I wanted to personally thank you for all you have done over the past five years - years of enormous progress in research leading to a cure, all because of your generosity.

It has been an honor and privilege to be a part of Research to Reality: the Campaign to Accelerate the Cure for Diabetes.

It has been an honor, because it allowed us all to help research take several giant steps forward.  As you can see on this website, and in all the materials JDRF can provide you with, we have made great strides in quickening the pace of research leading to a cure, and in improving the lives of people with the disease.  In all areas of research, from immunology to regeneration to complications to the development of an artificial pancreas, JDRF has driven science to think creatively, move more quickly, capitalize on success, and set the stage for the delivery of cures and therapies.

And it has been a privilege, because it enabled me to meet so many wonderful, committed, passionate people -- all with the common goal of finding a cure for our friends, our loved ones, and sometimes even ourselves.

As many of you know, I was fortunate to have received a pancreas transplant more than two and a half years ago.  After decades with type 1 diabetes, I'm now insulin free.  I cannot begin to tell you how terrific it feels.  But I'm just one person -- and everyone with type 1 diabetes needs to feel this way.

That's precisely why we created the Research to Reality Campaign.

Thanks to you, we're so much farther along today than we were just five years ago.

Thanks to you, we have accelerated the path to the cure.

Thanks to you, we will cure diabetes.

Sincerely,

James C. Tyree
Chairman, Research to Reality Campaign

"JDRF's research progress in the past five years has been nothing short of phenomenal. We have become the only organization capable of putting all the players and pieces together to cure type 1 diabetes."
