5/15/2009
UPDATE: For the November Annual Review, JDRF will begin accepting applications for Regular Research Grants, Postdoctoral Fellowships, Advanced Postdoctoral Fellowships, Career Development Awards, Innovative Grants, and Early Career Patient-Oriented Diabetes Research Awards starting on May 20th, 2009 with a submission deadline of July 29th, 2009. Please see the Grant Deadlines document for a complete schedule of applications deadlines.

2/17/2009: Only the Institution's designated Financial Officer has the authority to submit JDRF expenditure reports via GMP.  In addition (as previously noted), only the designated institutional officer(s) has the authority to complete the payment detail information in GMP (in the "Budget" section of the Activation or Renewal). It is the responsibility of the grantee to ensure that contact information for the Institution's designated financial and administrative officer(s) is correct. Please contact JDRF Grant Staff should you have questions.

2/5/2009: Effective immediately, the current carry-forward policy allowing automatic carry forward of funds has been suspended for all grant types. All carry forwards must be approved by JDRF in advance. Instructions on how to apply for a carry forward can be found here.

Grants Policies and Procedures Updates
As of 8/27/2009, several updates have been made to the JDRF Grant Policies and Procedures. Please refer to the following sections for more information:

Payment Guidelines
Cost Principles (new section)
Expenditure Reporting
Reallocation of Funds
Monitoring & Reporting

Change in Percent Effort for Key Personnel
IRB/IACUC Ethical Approval
US Economic Sanctions, Anti-Terrorism Laws, and Anti-Money Laundering Laws  (new section)

Institutional Authority
As of 12/5/08, only the designated institutional officer(s) have the authority to submit JDRF grants via GMP. Principal Investigators should complete the required fields for their Activations or Renewals, and then contact their institutional officer to complete the payment detail information (in the "Budget" section of the Activation or Renewal) and to submit the completed grant material. It is the responsibility of the grantee to ensure that contact information for the Institution's designated financial and administrative officer(s) is correct. Contact JDRF Staff should you have questions. Principal Investigators will no longer have access to complete the Payment Details section of GMP. Read more in the JDRF Grant Policies and Procedures.

Reallocation Requests
As of 12/5/08, reallocation requests cannot be made to increase travel above $2,000 or to increase indirect costs above 10% of direct costs. Any reallocation request including equipment beyond the first year of the award must be strongly justified as equipment is only allowed in the first year of the award.
