Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter - Philadelphia Branch

JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder advocate of type 1 diabetes research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease that strikes children and adults suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke and amputation. As many as 3 million Americans may have type 1 diabetes, the most severe form of the disease.

Since its founding, right here in Philadelphia, in 1970, by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion to diabetes research. In 2008 JDRF funded more than 1,000 centers, grants, and fellowships in 22 countries, including nearly 40 human clinical trials worldwide.

Jack Moynihan (father is Board Member Chris Moynihan) meets the Jonas Brothers, backstage at their soundcheck! The Moymihan's won tickets to the soundcheck through the 2009 Promise Ball Silent Auction and Jack was picked from the crowd for a backstage "meet and greet!!"
