Traverse Counseling and Consulting is holding a brand-new workshop for parents of teens and pre-teens with type 1 diabetes. The workshop is led by Allison Nimlos, a marriage and family therapist who has lived with type 1 diabetes for 25 years, and Michael Borowiak, a clinical social worker.
The workshop, “Diabetes & Your Teen: Surviving the Transition to Independent Management,” will focus on 1) understanding adolescent development and how that impacts diabetes management skills, 2) discussing ways in which families can get stuck in the process of transitioning to independence, and 3) how to overcome those challenges. There will also be lots of time for discussion and questions!
The workshop takes place on Wednesday, August 22 from 5:30-8:30 at their office in Saint Louis Park. Online registration is open now! https://diabetesparentworkshop.eventbrite.com/.
