The Fight for the Special Diabetes Program Continues

in ,

Join JDRF and tell Congress to enact a full, two-year renewal of the SDP now.

JDRF is extremely disappointed that Congress did not renew the Special Diabetes Program (SDP) as part of the continuing resolution (CR) funding bill H.R. 195. Despite the SDP enabling significant advances in cure therapies, prevention studies, and treatments for type 1 diabetes (T1D) since its inception, this is the first time in more than 20 years that the program has not been fully funded.

The first thing you should know is that JJDRF will continue to fight for long-term SDP renewal. We simply cannot have critical T1D research come to a halt, slowing momentum that is bringing us closer to a cure. The full renewal of the SDP still has strong, bipartisan support in Congress. It is unacceptable that it remains unfunded. Help us send the message to Congress that they need to uphold their commitment to the entire T1D community.

Congress must renew the SDP in the next funding bill by February 8, 2018, to ensure that crucial research for T1D continues. We need your help now more than ever! Please take a moment to voice your support for the SDP: email your Members of Congress, and tell them to enact a full, two-year renewal of the SDP immediately.
