February Cure Champion

JDRF is proud to have the support of our generous corporate and industry partners who contribute to our mission to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.

Billerica-based Insulet Corporation, the leader in tubeless insulin pump technology with its OmniPod® Insulin Management System, has been a dedicated supporter of JDRF through local chapter event sponsorship as well as employee engagement activities.

Insulet shares a common goal with JDRF to address the hopes and dreams of every person with T1D for the best quality of life and a cure for this disease.  By championing a corporate team in the 2015 JDRF One Walk Boston, as well as sponsoring the Walk and the upcoming TypeOneNation Boston Summit on February 27 and 34th Annual Boston Gala on May 14, the company has connected their employees with the JDRF mission and with each other.

“Our mission is to improve the lives of individuals living with diabetes,” said Patrick Sullivan, President and Chief Executive Officer, Insulet Corporation. “The successful fundraising efforts by the employees of Insulet underscore their creativity, dedication and commitment to this very important cause. We are grateful for the participation of clinicians across the U.S. in support of our fundraising campaign. We are proud to donate to JDRF and look forward to continuing to work closely with the organization.”

Insulet’s commitment to change the reality of this disease for the millions of people with T1D was evident on a rainy Walk Day this past September at the DCR Hatch Shell. The company’s nine teams and 171 registered walkers collectively raised $32,500 for the JDRF One Walk Boston. In addition to their local partnership with the JDRF New England Chapter, in 2015 Insulet supported 102 JDRF Walks, 31 TypeOneNation Summits, 16 family outreach programs, and four Galas across the country.

To further demonstrate their dedication, Insulet employees raised funds during National Diabetes Awareness Month in November as part of a company-sponsored three-day initiative in which thousands of clinicians across the U.S. wore a demo of the OmniPod System. Through this effort, Insulet contributed an additional $10,000 to JDRF on behalf of the clinicians who participated in the program.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity and ongoing support of Insulet, JDRF is able to direct even more funding toward important T1D research,” said Amy Montalto, Executive Director, JDRF New England Chapter. “We are confident that, together, we will turn Type One into Type None.”
