When my son Eli was diagnosed 7 ½ years ago, we promised him that we would do everything we could to help him find a cure. When we found out the impact we could make by walking and fundraising each year, we jumped on board as a family! As most of you know, living with Type 1 can be extremely trying. Between watching the struggles Eli has to go through on a daily basis, to the stress we as parents endure, it is time for a CURE!
This is our families 8th year participating in the JDRF One Walk. The picture that is included is of Eli at our first JDRF Walk eight years ago. One of Eli’s favorite things on Walk Day is the T-Shirt Contest. As a family we know we must continue to fundraise and advocate for JDRF every year. Because of my teams effort JDRF has made advancements towards that cure! The excitement on Eli’s face when we told him that the FDA had approved the first “artificial pancreas” was priceless. Although this is a fabulous advancement, it is still not a cure. JDRF research and funding has made that happen, and with our help and yours, we will find a cure! Please take time to ask your extended family and friends for a donation, large or small, every penny counts!
The JDRF NEWI Chapter raises over $500,000 during the Month of May for the JDRF One Walks but it takes US, the community and family members of T1D’s to make this happen. If you are on the fence about participating this year please think about it and join us to celebrate on Walk Day!
Thank you for your support to an organization so dear to my heart and see you in May!
