Jake’s Bar & Grill Annual JDRF Benefit

For the past 8 years, Jake’s Bar & Grill in Three Lakes, WI have organized a benefit to support JDRF.  Owners Scott and Caryn Jacob have a son with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and decided to take action.

Scott and Caryn’s son, Richard, was 5 years old when he was diagnosed.  Like many he appeared to be healthy and normal.  One evening, while Caryn was at work as an RN, Scott noticed Richard was often thirsty and using the restroom more than normal.  He explained what he had seen the night before to Caryn and she immediately took him to the hospital to have tests done and to see what was wrong.  He was diagnosed with T1D and that day is one their entire family will never forget.  Years later, they decided to take action and put a fundraiser in motion to help their son and the millions of others living with T1D.

The 1st Annual Jake’s benefit for JDRF took place in August 2010. Scott and Caryn wanted to find a way to draw people to Jake’s.  They decided to hire a Beatles Tribute Band from Chicago, Cavern Beat, to make the journey North. The Cavern Beat’s debut was the best turnout they had ever had for an event or benefit.  They had a successful night, raising $750 for JDRF.  Every year is more successful than the one prior.  Last year they raised $2,286!!!! They will once again be hosting their event on July 21st, 2018 at 8pm with tribute band ‘The Britins’.  If you live in or near Three Lakes or are looking for an excuse to head north this summer run, don’t walk to Jake’s for good music, fun people and a GREAT cause!

Thank you Jacob family for supporting JDRF all of these years.
