Dr. Greg Bricca, 2017 Salmon Falls 50K Race

The Salmon Falls 50K Endurance Run is a unique event that combines a challenging, rugged trail route with an opportunity to support Type 1  Diabetes research. JDRF partners yearly with Coloma River Races to offer an exhilarating adventure through the hills and groves of the Salmon Falls area. Money raised from the run benefits JDRF, which utilizes the contributions to invest in new T1D technologies, therapies, and treatments. The race will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 8:00 A.M, from the Magnolia Ranch Trailhead near Coloma to Folsom Point State Park at Folsom Lake. All participants will receive a custom jacket, and all finishers are awarded medals. In addition, a variety of corporate sponsors have pledged to provide giveaways and prizes.

For the past several years, Dr. Greg Bricca has been the top overall finisher at the Salmon Falls 50K race. He first discovered JDRF after his daughter was diagnosed with T1D at the age of seven and a supporter approached his family, offering crucial guidance and advice. Since then, he has adopted an increasingly active role in the T1D community, and strives to give back to JDRF through his athletic pursuits. Dr. Bricca identifies his daughter as the main reason for his dedication to the run, and describes the immensely supportive environment of the event:

I hoped through participation in the race to be an exercise role model for my daughter, so it was ironic and humbling that I relied on her strength to pull me through challenging moments during the run .… Knowing that this particular race supports JDRF and people with T1D makes the vibe surrounding the event even better. The Salmon Falls 50k is an unforgettable ultra marathon of the highest quality.

We thank Dr. Bricca and all other runners for their contributions to such an incredible and impactful race! Individuals interested in participating can sign up at https://www.salmonfalls50k.com. Spaces fill quickly, so be sure to register soon.
