    When did you join JDRF?

I joined as Executive Director in 2016, while I served on the Chapter Board from 2008 – 2014.

    What’s your T1D connection?

My first connection was Brittany Carroll, who was diagnosed when she was 12—when Brittany and her sister, along with my daughter Emily, were active in the Community Theatre of Greensboro. Brittany’s mom, Vanessa, and I served together on the CTG Board, and had become good friends. Now, I have dozens of dear friends whose families are living with T1D!

Why are you passionate about JDRF?

Since I first joined the Board 10 years ago, I have seen so many incredible research breakthroughs, all improving the lives of people living with T1D and all getting us closer to a world without this awful disease.

What’s the best part of being on the JDRF team?

That’s easy—I love working with our passionate volunteers and staff members! I have never seen a group of people so completely dedicated to one cause. Their energy propels me forward every day!

    What’s your favorite JDRF event?

I love EVERY JDRF event! From our Walks, to our Gala, to our Ride and Running events, to our Outreach events and TypeOneNation Summit, to our smaller, awareness-building and fundraising events, each one calls to a different group of passionate people who want to make a difference and create a world without T1D.

    When did you join JDRF?

I joined the JDRF team in October, 2014.

    What’s your T1D connection?

T1D has impacted close friends of mine throughout my life .

Why are you passionate about JDRF?

I’m passionate about finding a cure for T1D, and I believe JDRF is the organization that will do it.

What’s the best part of being on the JDRF team?

The best part has to be working with our volunteers.  Their willingness to make introductions, give their time, and demonstrate how passionate they are is a huge motivator for me.

    What’s your favorite JDRF event?

The One Walk, of course!  Watching sponsors, corporate teams, family teams, schools, churches, and individuals all come together for one purpose (rain or shine) is one of the most inspiring events to witness.

    When did you join JDRF?

I joined the Piedmont Triad chapter in 2009 and worked here until 2013.  I returned to this chapter in December of 2017 after working 18 months in the Greater Western Carolinas chapter.  I have been blessed to be in the JDRF family for over 5 years!

    What’s your T1D connection?

My T1D connection is my mother-in-law who was diagnosed in college.

What’s the best part of being on the JDRF team?

The best part of this team is the spirit and camaraderie of staff, volunteers and board members.  Everyone is focused on our mission to provide life-changing therapies for the T1D community.

What is your favorite JDRF event?

I love all of the events but my favorite moment with JDRF is when our Youth Ambassadors are sharing their story with corporate partners.  Their strength and composure when talking about living with T1D is truly inspirational!

    When did you join JDRF?

I have been a part of JDRF since I was 10 years old. I worked for the Triangle Chapter from 2015-16 and was lucky enough to become a part of the Piedmont Triad staff in 2018!

    What’s your T1D connection?

I was diagnosed with T1D over 20 years ago at the age of 10.

Why are you passionate about JDRF?

JDRF is a source of hope for me every single day. I know that one day we will turn type one into type NONE.

What’s the best part of being on the JDRF team?

All of the amazing families and individuals that I am able to meet! I’m truly inspired by each new person I get to know.

    What’s your favorite JDRF event?

OneWalk is my favorite JDRF event. When I was a child, I remember how special the day was for me. It’s so neat to see everyone come together as a community, make an impact through fundraising, and celebrate the strength of each and every person living with T1D.
