Mike Norona Elected to the JDRF International Board of Directors

To the Triangle Eastern NC T1D community,

It is with great pleasure that we reach out to you today.  We have a special person who has made such an amazing impact on JDRF over the years, who has been elected to JDRF’s International Board of Directors, and that person is Mike Norona of Raleigh and a former Fortune 500 CFO!

Many of you may know Mike thru his involvement as a speaker at JDRF Walks and Gala’s.  Mike, his wife Helen, and their sons Jordan and Dylan, are on a mission to support those in the T1D community with hope that we can continue to improve technology to manage the disease, but more than anything, to find the cure!  Mike and his family have been great champions for the T1D community for over 10 years and, in a twist of fate, in 2015 their son Dylan was diagnosed and they have continued to do everything they can to help our chapter and JDRF as a whole in many different ways.

As the chapters Executive Director, I have been working alongside Mike for three (3) years now and consider him a mentor and friend.  I know that Mike is going to bring our chapter a voice to the national JDRF level in terms of research, T1D community support, and fundraising and I am really looking forward to how that will make an impact on T1D.  Our wonderful chapter staff of Annette Musulin, Sarah Cunningham, Alex Hardesty, and Brynn Hoffman are excited just as I am to partner with Mike, and all of you, and continue our significant growth that we have driven over the past three years in terms of funds raised for research.  From 2016 to 2017, our chapter saw 7% revenue growth and we are forecasting for an 8% revenue growth from 2017 to 2018!

Congratulations to the Mike and the Norona Family!
