A LITTLE ABOUT THE DAVID AND KIM ROBERTS FAMILY:

The day diabetes enters your family’s life is a day you never forget. For the Roberts’ that day was May 1, 2014 when our oldest son, JD, was diagnosed with the Type 1.  And while admittedly, prior to that day we knew very little about diabetes, since then there hasn’t been a day that’s gone by where it hasn’t only impacted JD but our entire family as well.

Kim and I couldn’t be more proud of how JD has managed his Type 1. He is still the same active young man he was prior to his diagnosis. He plays football, trains year-round, and pursues all the activities that a regular 16-year-old boy should. In short, he hasn’t let Type 1 get in the way of him living his best life. Like most diabetes patients, JDs symptoms vary from day to day.  He has his highs and his lows. As a family, we’ve all learned how best to support him as he rides the daily blood sugar roller coaster.  

Our family has always been centered by our faith and our commitment to serving others. JDs Type 1 diagnosis has given the six of us a platform to help build awareness and rally others to support the cause. Please join us in helping JDRF’s mission to end Type 1 diabetes. The funding you provide will not only be used for researching a cure, but will also support the development of next generation therapies that make living with Type 1 more manageable. We look forward to seeing you at the Gala and making this year’s event a very special night to remember.
