Chevron is a longtime supporter of JDRF, participating in and sponsoring our Walks in the East Bay for many years. This year, Chevron is stepping up in the fight against type 1 diabetes (T1D) in many significant ways. The company is a $25,000 presenting sponsor for the JDRF One Walk in San Ramon, taking place on October 20, 2019. Colleen Cervantes, President of Chevron Lubricants, is serving as the 2019 Corporate Chair for this Walk. And, watch for JDRF One Walk fundraising campaigns at Chevron ExtraMile convenience stores and video campaigns at gas stations located in the East Bay throughout the months of September and October.
Chevron has hosted numerous events for us at their headquarters this year, including company Lunch & Learns so that employees can hear about what it’s like to live with T1D and why fundraising for the Walk is so important. More than 100 employees have registered (so far!) for their corporate Walk team. They also hosted an executive breakfast Walk recruitment event, and partnered with the Oakland A’s to organize a JDRF Root Beer Float Day on their campus. Colleen Cervantes spoke at the JDRF One Walk Kick Off at the Oakland A’s game on August 15, inspiring walkers to get their teams together and start fundraising. They even invited us to host a table at their company farmer’s market earlier this summer.

“What really excites me about JDRF’s work is the research that gets funded… ultimately, it’s the research and the technology enabled solutions where we can make a breakthrough in this fight against T1D. No one else is focused on the solution like JDRF! That’s why Chevron is supporting them – we see how much progress JDRF has been able to make and how committed they are to finding a solution for everyone impacted.” – Colleen Cervantes, President, Chevron Lubricants
In addition to Chevron’s history of support for our Walks, they have also had an important presence at our Summer Classic golf event over the years. Fourteen years ago, Chevron was the presenting sponsor that enabled the inaugural Summer Classic, then known as Drive for the Cure. They went on to sponsor the event and contributed to the continued success of Summer Classic from 2006–2014 as the presenting sponsor for most of that time.
JDRF is exceedingly grateful for the ongoing engagement and inspirational leadership of Chevron. They have gone above and beyond to help raise money for critical research, and have made a difference in the lives of people with T1D.
