While we will not be coming together in person for the JDRF One Walk this year, we are encouraging everyone to join us for a VIRTUAL One Walk that will take place on our chapter Facebook page on Sunday, May 31. We are so excited to highlight our virtual walkers and share some walk day spirit over social media. It will be a fun, bright spot for our community!

We have so much in store for you and can’t wait for you to be a part of it all! First step is to register at walk.jdrf.org. Personalize your fundraising page with a photo or video and your personal story. Send an email to friends and family and be sure to link your fundraising page to Facebook to reach even more people.

Fundraising Ideas for Walkers

Go virtual with a Facebook Live, Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Hangout event with friends and family. Ask for a suggested donation to participate in a virtual happy hour, talent show, game night, or dance party. Need more ideas? Check out this robust list of virtual fundraising ideas! Going Virtual on May 31st

Put on your JDRF best, lace up your sneakers, and get active where you are. Walk around your neighborhood or in your backyard, hop on your treadmill, go for a jog or hike, dance – the choice is yours. We are counting on you to get creative with how you are walking/participating on walk day and to take a video or snap a photo and share it with us on social media. Be sure to make your post PUBLIC, tag our chapter Facebook and/or Instagram pages @JDRFCapital and use the hashtags #StrongerTogetherDMV and #UnstoppableType.

Speaking of creativity, One Walk Spirit Week is coming up May 18-22. Each day has a theme and we hope you’ll share photos and stories with us on social media, as well as your friends and family to let them know you’re getting into the JDRF One Walk spirit!

It’s a challenging time right now, but for anyone living with T1D and their families, challenges are nothing new, and we always rise to them. We can’t wait to see the power of our virtual footprint on May 31st!
