Bousquet Holstein PLLC is the successor to the law practice Green & Seifter Attorneys PLLC founded by Edward S. Green in 1961. The law practice developed and became known in Central New York for its real estate development expertise, representation of clients in the medical community, and representation of entrepreneurs and closely held business owners. The firm was also known for the private placements it conducted over nearly a thirty year period. Those projects included the Syracuse Telephone Company, a pioneering cellular telephone company formed in 1985 and sold to Southwestern Bell in 1994; the Presidential Plaza office and residential project; Northway Plaza, a shopping center in Queensbury, New York; the E. M. O’Donnell building, a sale leaseback commercial office building with Niagara Mohawk in Syracuse, New York; MONY Towers, a sale leaseback with the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York; the State Tower Building; Eagle Media, L.P., a group of newspapers in Central New York and the Capital District; and most recently, the $30 million renovation of the Marx Hotel and Conference Center in Syracuse, New York.

Lowell Seifter became a named principal of the firm in 1981. In the mid-1980s the firm began the growth trajectory that it has been on since then. The practice has grown as the breadth of our client base has expanded and as we have added highly qualified attorneys who have a long-term commitment to the firm.

In 2001, the principals of the firm acquired the practice from Mr. Green. Since that time, our firm has grown and expanded our practice groups based on the particular expertise of our members. We handle matters as diverse as economic development incentive planning; UCC and credit financing issues for a major equipment leasing company; brownfields tax credits; cable franchise negotiations; business, real estate, and environmental issues for a sovereign Native American nation; telecommunications bankruptcy representation and trusteeship; representation of distressed companies in acquisitions and mergers transactions with an overlay of ERISA and employee stock ownership issues; estate tax planning issues for high net worth individuals who own stakes in major corporations; litigation of executive compensation and change of control issues for executive of public company subsidiary; negotiation of chief executive officer employment agreements; permitting, land use, and environmental issues for cogeneration facilities; tax advocacy in areas ranging from sales tax issues for the advertising industry to the negotiation of offers and compromises with the IRS to litigation of commercial real property tax certiorari matters.

In 2012, Lowell Seifter left the firm to become Vice President and General Counsel for St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. In that year, the firm changed its name to Bousquet Holstein PLLC. The firm now takes its name from Laurence G. Bousquet and David A. Holstein. David and Larry have served on the firm’s board of managers and have a combined tenure of more than 40 years with the firm and its predecessor. Each is a well‐respected attorney and community leader in the Central New York region.
