In keeping with JDRF National’s decisions that were recently announced by our CEO and President, along with Governor Cooper declaring North Carolina a state of emergency, our local Wilmington Market is transitioning the 2020 JDRF Wilmington One Walk from an in-person gathering to a Virtual Walk on Sunday, March 29th.
With the COVID-19 situation evolving quickly, we believe this decision is in the best interest to minimize risk for the JDRF community and do our part to slow the spread of this outbreak across local communities.
While we will miss seeing you in-person to celebrate your amazing fundraising success, we ARE encouraging everyone to join us in a virtual JDRF walk on the 29th. Put on your JDRF walk t-shirt*, lace up your sneakers and get active where you are – walk around your block, hop on your treadmill, go for a jog – the choice is yours – and take to social media!
We will be communicating more with you next week with more details on what our online walk event will entail.
Team captains, we encourage you to please share this information with each of your walkers to ensure they receive this message.
Thank you for all you are doing, and continue to do, to support JDRF’s mission to fund type 1 diabetes research. Even in the face of adversity, JDRF remains laser-focused on our mission and your involvement remains vital as we all work towards a world without diabetes.
More updates will be available by email, on social media, and on our chapter website in the coming days. If you have immediate questions or concerns, please contact either of us and we’ll be happy to help.
*Individuals who have raised $100+ will still receive their JDRF Walk t-shirts – we will mail them out as soon as we receive them. Teams who have created their own shirts are encouraged to highlight their shirts on walk day!
