Brand New Kids Camp at TypeOneNation Summit!

NEW THIS YEAR!

We are excited to announce the new Kids Camp at TypeOneNation Summit! Children’s breakout sessions will be both educational and FUN! Children will create crafts, play games that allow them to practice carb counting, attend FUN education sessions just for them, and even participate in an Ominpod Demo Design Contest. Details on the Omnipod Demo Design Contest and the educational sessions are listed below. Kids Camp is available for T1D’s and their siblings! Groups will be organized by age: ages 4-7 and ages 8-12.


OmniPod Demo Design Contest
Back by popular demand is the Omnipod demo design contest! Kids will have the opportunity to express themselves by decorating an Omnipod with their peers. The winners of each age group will receive a special prize provided by Omnipod!

 


Recognizing and Handling Emotions with Rachel Mayo
In this highly interactive session, kids will be able to safely express emotions that surround T1D with Rachel, an adult living with T1D. We will talk about what to do when we feel emotions we don’t want to feel, and how to build a safe community and network of people to turn to when we need help.


Growing Grounded with Sarah Bristow
Sarah Bristow, founder of Growing Grounded, will be leading leading two yoga session as a part of TypeOneNation. Sarah’s approach in teaching kids incorporates Yoga, mindfulness and meditation strategies as a way of coaching children in learning to manage themselves with confidence, compassion, and awareness. Sessions may include bending and breathing, individual and partner poses, and fun games and activities as a way to foster a positive sense of self. Kids can expect to move their bodies, makes new friends, and have fun!


Special Guest Appearances by Omnipod’s Toby the Turtle and JDRF’s Rufus, the bear with Diabetes!

LAST CHANCE TO REGISTER for our community’s One day of essential T1D programming for all ages and all stages, TypeOneNation Summit. This year’s event will feature a research and mission update by Dr. Frank Martin, new & relevant breakout sessions for adults, as well as opportunities for children and teens to play, engage and learn with peers in their own age-appropriate sessions. Our vendor fair will feature the ever-popular technology, camp vendors and more. All are welcome to attend: feel free to bring your children, grandparents, coaches, and teachers!

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will also provide a special training session just for
caregivers/babysitters, grandparents, school staff, older siblings, and more.
