Update for Our JDRF Georgia Community

in

Hello JDRF Georgia Chapter Community!

We hope this email finds you safe and healthy. As you may have seen, in order to keep our T1D community safe and healthy, JDRF has moved to cancel or postpone all in-person events through June 30th. We are currently working on a plan to re-imagine our spring event calendar as well as provide some virtual engagement and support opportunities. We will be in touch once our plans have been finalized.

In the meantime, our priority is to ensure you have the resources and information you need to manage life with T1D. Please see below for some important information regarding COVID-19 and T1D:

Your COVID-19 Questions, Answered

The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a global pandemicā€”and members of this community have asked many questions about what that means for people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). JDRF reached out to trusted experts in the field to compile answers to the top 10 questions we received this week to help you understand your riskā€”and that of others, including kids and grandparentsā€”for becoming sick with COVID-19. JDRFā€™s T1D Health Insurance Guide

One of our top pieces of advice during the COVID-19 pandemic is to be informed and prepared. That means ensuring you have enough supplies, and knowing how to communicate your needs to your physician and health insurance provider. Our T1D Health Insurance Guide can help you navigate these waters, and point you to help with costs as well. Click here to see the guide.

Q&A with Dr. Mary Pat Gallagher

Last Friday, we invited our community to be a part of live Q&A session with Dr. Mary Pat Gallagher, a pediatric endocrinologist at Hassenfeld Childrenā€™s Hospital at NYU Langone. This Q&A session covered how coronavirus can impact those living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). If you were unable to join the live Q&A, you can watch a recording of the live video here.
