  What is the TypeOneNation Summit?
  The TypeOneNation Summit is an all-day educational and networking opportunity for the T1D community. It brings together T1D experts to share their knowledge on the latest treatments, breakthroughs in research, and the psycho-social aspects of living (and thriving) with T1D.

  Who should attend?
  The event will have unique opportunities for T1D children, teens, adults, as well as their parents, siblings and significant others.

  When and where is the 2017 Georgia TypeOneNation Summit?
  The 2017 Georgia TypeOneNation Summit will take place on Saturday, March 18th from 8:00am to 3:00pm at the Infinite Energy Forum – 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway Duluth, Georgia 30097.

  Where do I register for TypeOneNation Summit?
  Registration is available beginning February 1st here: https://typeonenation_ga.eventbrite.com

  How much does TypeOneNation Summit cost to attend?
  The cost to attend the TypeOneNation Summit is $10 for ages 4 and up and includes lunch and teens/kids activities. Guests 3 and under are free.

  What is included with my ticket?
  Admission includes a keynote address, multiple breakout sessions and workshops as well as lunch.

  What time does the Summit start?
  Check in will begin at 8:00am and the program will begin at 9:00am. The Summit ends at 3:00pm.

  Is parking free?
  Yes, parking is free. Volunteers will also be available to help direct you to the most convenient parking lot.

  What breakout sessions are offered at TypeOneNation Summit?
  At TypeOneNation Summit, we offer 10 different educational sessions. You have the option to attend 3 sessions.

  What is the Diabetes Caregiver Class (presented by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta)?
  Everyone who takes care of a child with T1D needs to know the basics of managing it, and CHOA’s Diabetes Caregiver Class shows them how. This class is for grandparents, babysitters, friends, school teachers and daycare providers. The class covers topics such as how to give insulin, count carbohydrates, test blood sugar, test for ketones and help a child stay active safely. This program runs concurrent with workshops.

  Is there childcare provided?
  YES, there will be educational programming for all children ages 4 through 17. There will be separate tracks for teens (13-17) and children (4-12). Children 3 and under will stay with their parents/guardian.

  Will there be volunteers to help my child manage their T1D when I am at a workshop?
  YES, there will be volunteers available to support your child in managing their T1D throughout the day. They will help treat lows if they arise, these volunteers will NOT deliver insulin to any child. JDRF will not be held responsible for blood sugar levels & insulin dosages.

  How will I be notified if my child needs me?
  Upon check-in at the Summit, you and your child/children will receive a security bracelet. You will be instructed to add your cell number to both of the bracelets. This number will be to match your child for security reasons, as well as be able to call or text you if your child/children need your support.

  Are low snacks provided?
  YES, there will be low snacks such as juice and glucose tabs provided by JDRF. If you child has a favorite low snack please be sure to bring them with you.

  Who will keep my child medical supplies throughout the day?
  Your child should be prepared to carry their supplies with them throughout the day. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LABEL GLUCOMETERS AND MEDICAL BAGS, as many of our children carry and use the same supplies, we do not want to mix them up.

  Will my child/children be eating with me?
  YES, you will pick up your child/children before lunch.

  Will there be carb counts for lunch at the Summit?
  YES, we will offer estimate carb counts for lunch provided.

  Is there a room rate at a hotel?
  A discounted JDRF Room rate is available for Friday, March 17th at the Holiday Inn Gwinnett Center. Annie Schultz

Annie was born and raised in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in White Salmon, WA.  She graduated from Oregon State University in 2004 with a Degree in Exercise Science--Sports Medicine, but chose a sports business route.  That took her to Tacoma, WA where she was the Senior Director of Marketing for the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.  While working for the Rainiers, Annie connected with the local JDRF Branch and volunteered on the South Sound Board of Directors.  While volunteering she was hired by JDRF as a Regional Marketing Manager.  She remained with JDRF for three years before taking a new and exciting role in the T1D research world with Diabetes TrialNet.  TrialNet is  a worldwide network of researchers and institutions focused on preventing type 1 diabetes.  Annie is the Project Manager for Outreach & Recruitment for the Diabetes TrialNet network.

Annie came to the T1D research worlds as a person who is directly impacted by T1D.  Her father was diagnosed in 1964 at age 19, Annie herself was diagnosed at age 21.   She and her family members have participated in numerous clinical research trials of type 1 diabetes.  Specifically, Annie has participated in trials for the artificial pancreas at the Benaroya Research Institute.  She is also a member of the JDRF Speakers Bureau, a Board Member for ConnecT1D an organization that puts on a type 1 diabetes family camp and a volunteer for JDRF Seattle.  She was recently awarded the Auto-immune Alliance-A3 Focus Award for her spirit, dedication and community involvement while living with an autoimmune disease.  She admits that while her story can be difficult to share, it demonstrates very clearly the tremendous advancements that are a direct result of JDRF funded research.
