It’s November and not only is it the month to celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s also National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM)! Now is a great time to spread the word about T1D and dispel the untruths that exist about this disease. I’m sure you’ve seen lots of posts on Facebook and Instagram about this campaign; let’s get the word out! Also know that we are available and happy to come to your child’s school and do an educational presentation or even a fundraiser.
Have you heard about the JDRF Ambassador Program? This is designed for our kids with T1D; they meet monthly for a fun outing, or they might also participate in a service project. In addition, the kids serve as the hosts and hostesses for our fundraising events, like the One Walk, the Golf Classic, and the Imagine Gala. This is a great way for the kids to make new T1 friends, and it gives them a safe environment to talk about their T1D. If your T1 is interested in the program, please reach out to us and we will send you more information.
Happy turkey day-
