You’ve heard bits and pieces about our annual TypeOneNation (TON) Summit in our e-newsletter and on social media over the past few months. Those of you who have registered are in for an eye-opening experience! Those of you that have not yet registered—well, that’s tricky. We’ve sold out! The 250 spots are currently all filled by different types of people impacted by type 1 diabetes (T1D). My best suggestion for you? Get on the waitlist ASAP!
TON Summit is designed to provide information to people of all ages and stages with T1D and their loved ones. Enjoy a full day of inspirational and educational activities lead by national and local experts that can help you and your loved ones better manage life with T1D. T1D carries with it a huge emotional toll, but doctors are not always akin to the psychosocial ties that come with T1D. At TON Summit, you can participate in discussion groups, share your T1D story, and help motivate and support others who walk in similar shoes.
As you may know, part of the mission of JDRF is to:
- Find ways to prevent T1D (Have a chat with Beth from TrialNet and hear the latest updates.),
- Find better treatments that impact T1D (Stop by the vendor tables and talk to reps from Rare Patient Voice and Core Human Factors—both of which liaise between you and manufacturers of diabetes products and supplies to achieve this goal of creating better treatments for T1D. You can also find out about the newest devices through conversation with Eversense, Dexcom, Medtronic, Omnipod and Tandem); and
- Find a cure for T1D (Talk with JDRF board members and staff about the latest in T1D research.).
That’s just an example of a few of the opportunities open to you at the CHUBB Hotel and Conference Center on February 23.
You (and your family) can also check out samples and/or obtain information about some great products designed for you. Head over to the Resource Table and shop with Cricket Lane Studio!
Was your New Year’s resolution to get more involved with JDRF? Stop by the JDRF Events Table and learn more about Walk, Ride and Gala or visit the JDRF Info, Outreach and Advocacy Table where you can sign up to volunteer or be a JDRF advocate.
The TON Summit planning committee is both proud and excited to have so many diverse and important breakout sessions available to attendees throughout the day—and they should be! T1D Pregnancy, Off to College with T1D, 504 plans, nutrition, technology—so many topics and so much to learn!
And as the Outreach Manager, I simply want every person attending, regardless of age or reason for attending, to leave with a new friend. Sounds like a fabulous day, right? We hope to see you there!
