The Lemonick family’s involvement with JDRF began in 2003 when Hilary was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age seven. In the 20 years since, Hilary has served as a JDRF Junior Ambassador and volunteer, while her mother, Sherry, has served as a board member for the Eastern Pennsylvania chapter. Hilary and her family remain deeply committed to JDRF’s mission and fundraising for life-changing and lifesaving T1D research.

This year, at the 2023 One Dream Gala, Hilary returns to the ballroom to address her experience living with T1D. In sharing the disease’s resulting impact on her mental health, she reflects on the coping strategies and resources upon which she has relied while speculating what life could look like without the constant burden of T1D.
