JDRF Greater Iowa Chapter partners with The Sola Company to support type 1 diabetes research

DES MOINES, IA, [April 2, 2019] — JDRF Greater Iowa Chapter, the local chapter of the leading global organization that funds research for T1D, continues its partnership with The Sola Company, a  CPG company specializing in a line of chef-crafted, better-for-you products. Through their partnership, JDRF and Sola’s goals are to support diabetes research, educate people on ways to adopt healthier lifestyles and to help people cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D).

To further promote the partnership’s mission, on May 11, 2019, in Ankeny, Iowa, JDRF will host its annual JDRF One Walk, the flagship fundraising event for JDRF.  At the JDRF One Walk, Sola will provide free samples of their low-sugar and low-carb products, which are ideal treats for people seeking to reduce their carbohydrate intake.

JDRF will also host their 21st Annual Hope Gala on October 19, 2019, in Des Moines, Iowa, to help further accelerate type 1 diabetes research and positively change the lives of T1D’s and their families in central Iowa. During the gala, Sola will provide support by offering nutritious food samples and educational materials on healthy living, and will auction off a private in-home dinner cooked by Sola co-founder, Chef Ryan Turner.

“There is no better feeling than knowing that our efforts are helping people live healthier lives and aiding in managing, preventing and curing chronic diseases, making our partnership with JDRF a truly rewarding one. We look forward to supporting JDRF and ensuring that people with diabetes receive the care, support, and access to healthy and delicious foods that they need and deserve,” said Chef Turner.

The partnership between JDRF and Sola is opening doors for advancements in type 1 diabetes research. JDRF Greater Iowa Chapter Executive Director, Michelle Weigel, looks forward to continuing this partnership with Sola and is hopeful that their combined efforts will help accelerate breakthroughs in diabetes research and change the lives of diabetics in central Iowa. “The support received from Sola has been extremely beneficial to our mission here at JDRF. Their dedication to providing low-sugar and low-carb products as additional options in food choices is important.”

JDRF’s mission to accelerate T1D diabetes research and Sola’s mission to provide healthy foods align together in creating a partnership that can truly make a difference. JDRF and Sola are motivated to invest in the mission of their partnership – to improve the lives of those impacted by T1D.
