Executive Director Announcement – Carly Ross

Carly joins JDRF with over fifteen years of leadership experience as a non-profit executive and small business owner. Prior to joining JDRF, Carly served as Director of the Des Moines Field Office of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants. As Director, Carly provided overall strategic direction for programming, fundraising initiatives, high-level volunteer engagement and financial operations efforts. During her tenure, she led an expansion of programming that diversified funding streams and doubled staff to fifteen individuals serving over 1,000 clients each year. Carly served on the Executive Committee of the Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa and the Advisory Board of United Wayā€™s OpportUNITY Plan.

Since 2015, Carly volunteered on the Board of Directors for Primary Health Care, Inc., a federally-qualified community health center providing equitable healthcare access to area Iowans. She served as Chair of the Marketing and Development Committee and sat on the Nominations Committee from 2017-2019. Carly was also selected for Mercy College of Health Scienceā€™s ā€œVital Peopleā€ publication in 2016.

Prior to working with USCRI Des Moines, Carly owned and operated three award-winning small businesses for six years. In this role, she supervised staff of 35+, directed customer relations, marketing and administrative functions. Carly holds a B.A. from Carleton College and a graduate degree in International Development from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand. She has two daughters with whom she enjoys cooking and traveling. Outside of work, Carly enjoys running and practicing yoga, and spending time outdoors.
