On Saturday, May 8, 2021, the JDRF Greater New England Community will come together for a live Virtual Gala and Auction, bringing our One Night and One Hope Galas right to your home. The event will include many of the cherished moments we look forward to each year—igniting generosity and hope.

It takes a village, and this event would not be possible without the unwavering commitment, dedication, and passion of the JDRF Gala Committee. Members maximize the guest experience, contributing to everything from event participation to procuring the incomparable items you see in our silent and live auctions. Last year, as the world was faced with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, this group of exceptional volunteers helped to quickly pivot our May 2020 Gala from in-person to this new virtual space. As a result of their efforts and the generosity of our community, we were able to raise a remarkable $1.7 million for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. As we look to this upcoming event, led by Dawn McGrew, Jamie O’Riordan, Jaleen Siekman, and Cathy Walter, we are inspired by the work this group has already accomplished.

The monumental triumphs that JDRF has made could not have happened without the immense support of the Gala Committee. Each member plays an integral part in the success of this event, and often share their own personal stories to connect others to the mission of JDRF. This year, we were excited to expand our Committee’s reach to now include representation throughout all of New England.

Whether they have been involved for many years or joined in the fall, all of our Gala Committee members have been instrumental in the growth and success of one of our Chapter’s largest fundraising events. However, their involvement doesn’t stop there, often extending their support to programs across the organization. We are incredibly grateful for the Gala Committee’s tireless efforts, enthusiasm, and support, and celebrate them for helping us every day, to turn Type One into Type None!
