Honoring Gerald Powderly and Adriana Bauzá

The New England Chapter of JDRF will host One Night — 35th Annual JDRF Boston Gala, a black-tie event that brings together more than 600 guests. The evening features an exciting silent and live auction, coupled with an entertaining cocktail hour, dinner and live entertainment. Our goal for the Gala is to raise $2 million for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Please join us for One Night where we will celebrate how far we have come toward the One Day when we will celebrate a cure.

Ways to Give

Fund A Cure

Fund A Cure immediately follows the Live Auction portion of the evening. Fund A Cure is an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of people living with T1D and their loved ones through a 100% tax-deductible donation, which will accelerate life-changing research. Fund A Cure donations will be invested in JDRF’s effective and focused research agenda aimed to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until there is a cure.

Gerald Powderly and Adriana Bauzá

When Adriana Bauzá and Gerald Powderly’s oldest daughter Ceci was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the summer of 2005 they knew they would need resources to help her any way they could. So it was not surprising that once they discovered JDRF, Nani and Gerry became fully immersed in the organization’s mission and embraced all of JDRF’s volunteer roles from leadership to fundraising to advocacy.

Gerry served on the New England Chapter Board of Directors for six years, two of which as president. As a JDRF ambassador, Gerry established strategic connections between the New England Chapter and local corporations including his own employer, Deloitte. Nani is actively engaged with JDRF’s Gala and Outreach committees. She regularly organizes outreach caregiver events and can always be counted on to passionately support newly diagnosed families through Bag of Hope deliveries.

Gerry, Nani and Ceci have also run many miles through events such as the Boston Marathon, Falmouth Road Race and Cohasset Triathlon to support JDRF and type 1 diabetes research. Nani and Gerry truly embody all that makes JDRF special and successful. We are delighted to honor their unwavering dedication to bringing support, better treatments and ultimately a cure to Ceci and all those living with type 1 diabetes around the world.
