The Tradition Continues: South Sound OneWalk

in

One Walk is a historic flagship fundraising event for JDRF, with the first walk taking place in 1992. Since then, JDRF Walks have raised more than $1 billion for type 1 diabetes, with more than 900,000 participants nationwide. It’s through this community event that families and individuals with T1D can walk for a cause. One might be familiar with the paper shoes hanging in local businesses, a signature piece of collateral for JDRF Walks.

South Sound One Walk is equally as historic in the South Sound. Each year, JDRF works alongside the South Sound local community to raise money for type 1 diabetes. Our loyal partners include our teams, like Jake’s Crew and Megan’s Team, dedicating their time and effort to fundraise within their community among their family and friends. Our family teams truly embody the spirit of JDRF, with most of our teams having a direct tie to T1D.

As 2020 ramps up, so does our South Sound Walk. This year it will be taking place on Sunday May 3rd at Chambers Creek Regional Park. This will be our third year at this scenic location, which was a huge hit amongst our veterans, new walkers and our dog lovers! We recently gathered the community for a Walk Kick Off that took place on February 1st at the Norpoint Community Center in Tacoma. JDRF encouraged all families in South Sound to come out to this free fun kickoff, as it served as a great time to network, meet families who also know the uphill battles of living with T1D and most importantly, to have fun with friends and family in the local community.

We simply can’t wait for May 3rd ! Another year in the books for our South Sound One Walk, and so the tradition continues. To learn more about the walk please visit the South Sound OneWalk page.
