The transition of diabetes management from parent to child or teen can be a tough one. Now there is a workshop specifically designed for the needs of parents and caregivers who face issues like sneaking food and falsified (or skipped) blood sugars. Whether you’re experiencing difficulties or not, it never hurts to have more tools to help you and your loved ones deal with the emotional roller coaster of Hi/Lows that diabetes can be.

Workshop Date/time: Saturdays from 10:30-12:30pm running September 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19 and 26th

Here are a few of the topics we’ll address:
- Child/teen isĀ dishonest about blood sugarĀ and other diabetes responsibilities
- Child/teenĀ does not ātake diabetes seriouslyā, even after traumatic events
- You (the parent) donāt knowĀ when to step in and help or step backĀ and let your child/teen take the lead (am I doing this right?!)
- Your child/teenĀ doesnāt listenĀ to you
- How toĀ balance diabetes responsibilities with letting your child/teen have a ānormalā life
Participants will gain the insight and skills to:
- Offer supportĀ & empower your child to own diabetes in a constructive way
- Set boundariesĀ & resolve family conflict without hurting, alienating or feeling guilty
- Implement strategies to successfullyĀ transition diabetes responsibilitiesĀ over to your child or teen
- Handle dishonestyĀ around skipping BG checks &/or taking insulin
- Cope & help your child cope with how much diabetes sucks
