July Office Hours Session: Friends, Family & T1D

Individuals and parents of children living with T1D, grab your support team to learn basic skills in T1D management. This virtual session is designed to provide a simple but effective overview for caregivers. Sheila Dennehy, MS, RN, Diabetes Care and Education Specialist will share basic T1D care, provide tips, guidelines and briefly cover T1D technology. Caregivers will be empowered with the knowledge to care for your loved one with T1D.

Join Sheila Dennehy, MS, RN, CDE, Manager, Diabetes Education Program of NYU Langone Hospital ā Long Island, for a virtual workshop geared to offer confidence in managing a loved oneās diabetes while in their care. Sheila teaches new onset patients and families on how to manage diabetes. She meets with patients on an outpatient basis every 2-4 months for evaluation and ongoing education and is a certified pump and sensor trainer.Ā As manager, Sheila maintains ADA program recognition, coordinates research, and facilitates day to day practice for the program. She co-authored an article in āOn the Cutting Edge Diabetes Care and Educationā on going away to college with T1D and has spoken nationally for the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
