The Power of Progress: Celebrating a Year of T1D Champions

February 10, 2021
7:00 pm

Presented by The JDRF Greater New York City Chapter

We are thrilled to announce the launch of The Power of Progress: Celebrating a Year of T1D Champions Campaign; an exciting fundraising effort that will reflect the tradition and legacy of the wonderful JDRF Galas that we typically hold in person throughout our Greater New York City Chapter. The Power of Progress will be a first of its kind event and our goal is to preserve the beloved elements of our gala programs that you have come to know and love. While we are unable to gather in person, we know that T1D doesn’t stop and neither can we! See how you can get involved below.

  • The Power of Progress: Celebrating a Year of T1D Champions is a virtual campaign and livestream event that will draw on the traditions of our JDRF Galas and create a unique and unforgettable experience for our community from the comfort of your home. During this 1-hour virtual Gala broadcast, The Power of Progress will unite our Greater New York City Chapter, celebrate this community’s philanthropic spirit and remind the world that we’re not backing down until we cure T1D. We invite you to be a part of The Power of Progress and join us as we continue our commitment to raise critical funds for life changing research on February 10, 2021.

  • Make a fully tax-deductible gift to Fund A Cure today. One of the most important things we can do right now is support JDRF’s life-saving research for the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. Donations have fallen dramatically due to the pandemic and as a result, the most promising research has been put at risk. JDRF needs us now more than ever!

Fund A Cure donations will be directly invested in JDRF’s effective and focused research agenda aimed at progressively removing the impact of T1D from people’s lives until there is a cure.

For more information about Fund a Cure, please contact Leanne Labetti.

  • Sponsorship provides maximum brand alignment with JDRF and unique exposure to our event audience.  Corporate Sponsorships range from $5,000-$30,000 with customizable options to get the most out of a partnership with JDRF!

Contact Kim Maloney for more information or to customize your Sponsorship.

  • On February 10th, we’re delivering the Gala directly to your door! Ranging from packages for 2 to 6 guests, experience all your favorite parts of the Gala from the comfort of your own home. Each package, delivered safely to your door, is a transportable, immersive, home entertaining experience designed by two of the most renowned names in event and culinary design: Jennifer Zabinski and Olivier Cheng. All packages include access to the campaign’s live program on February 10, 2021. Award Recipients

We are thrilled to announce the recipients of the T1D Community Champions of the Year Award!

Drs. Sharon Kiely and Michael DeVita have been working for a cure for T1D since 1995 when Michael was diagnosed at 40 years old. Since his diagnosis, Sharon and Michael have continued to be major advocates and supporters of JDRF. They have both served on a number of JDRF Boards – both internationally and locally –  generously championed JDRF research, supported dozens of galas, walked countless miles and have taken to their bicycles to pedal, coach, and volunteer at Ride to Cure events around the country.

Sharon is a General Internist and Chief Wellness Officer at Hartford HealthCare, and Michael is a Critical Care specialist, a Professor at Columbia University School of Medicine, an author, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. They reside in Rowayton, CT.

Sharon and Michael are so deserving of this award and we are truly grateful for their leadership and shared vision of a world without T1D.
