One Night Signature Gala Goes VIRTUAL!

June 1 - 4, 2020, New York City/Long Island, NY
9:00 am

Honoring Daniel and Colleen Aversano

Each year, the annual One Night Signature Gala brings people together to celebrate the tenacity and courage displayed by the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community, while raising critical funds for T1D research. Although we cannot be together in person this year, we can still come together, virtually, as a community, to show the world that when faced with challenges, we will remain unstoppable in our fight to find a cure. We have planned 4 days of digital festivities, including an online auction, inspiring giving opportunities and a Live Stream event! See how you can get involved below.

  • At JDRF, our top priority is — and always has been — the health and well-being of the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. To safeguard our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, JDRF has made theĀ difficultĀ decision to postpone all in person events through June 30th.

But,Ā as JDRF’s CEO & President Dr. Aaron Kowalski says:

Our events do not raise the money we need to fund research, our community does.

The weeks and months ahead will be unique and challenging, but are also filled with opportunity. Together with all of you, we will drive our mission forward. No matter what is happening in the world, we know that T1D doesn’t go away.  We can’t stop or slow down our work—if we do, we risk setting back the incredible progress you’ve made possible.

As we move forward together during this challenging time, we believe we will emerge as a stronger community — and will be closer than ever to achieving our mission to create a world without T1D.

We are continually updating the T1D community through our website, JDRF.org, sharing information on how to stay safe, and how to best manage T1D if you do develop this or any other serious virus.

  • Fund A Cure is an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of people living with T1D and their loved ones through a 100% tax-deductible donation, which will accelerate life-changing research. Fund A Cure donations will be invested in JDRF’s effective and focused research agenda aimed to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until there is a cure.

Yes, I would like to make a Fund A Cure donation!

  • No matter what is happening in the world, we know that type 1 diabetes doesn’t go away.  Your support now, more than ever, will allow us drive our mission forward. We are asking our supporters, who are able, to help us so we can continue to support essential research.

    Here’s how you can help:

    • Create a JDRF YourWay page, share with your network why you are committed to still supporting JDRF.Ā Ā Encourage others to donate, comparable to what they would give if they were a guest at your table!
    • Make a self-donation, comparable to what you would spend purchasing a table, or more!Ā  Unlike when you purchase a table, this will be 100% tax deductible donation, going directly to research!

    How to build your page:Ā

    1. Visit jdrf.org/goto/VirtualOneNight and select ā€œJoin This Teamā€
    2. You can either sign up through your Facebook account or create a new one
    3. Once your account is created, you will be redirected to your ā€œDashboard,ā€ where you’ll have access to:
      • Edit your team page and share your story!
        • Update your team page with information about what the campaign is all about and why it’s important to you. Add a photo and/or a video if possible to make it really personal.
      • Build your team
        • Think about what you’d like to raise as a team and how much you believe each person can fundraise towards that group goal.
        • Start building a list of people you’d like to ask and group them to help you frame your invitation language.
      • Thank your donors and make a self donation

Honorees

We are thrilled to announce Daniel & Colleen Aversano as the 2020 One Night Signature Gala Honorees! In August of 2018, at the age of 8 years old, their son Jack was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Within days of the diagnosis Daniel & Colleen began working with JDRF to support research for cures. The Aversano family continues to be major advocates and supporters of JDRF. In the short period since Jack’s diagnosis, they have participated in various events, including the annual One Walk at Eisenhower Park, where Jack’s Warriors has been one of top fundraising teams for two consecutive years.Ā Ā  Daniel currently serves as Senior Vice President of Ad Innovation at WarnerMedia in their Manhattan office and Colleen is a special education teacher at Building Blocks Developmental Pre-School in Commack, NY. The Aversano family resides in Huntington, NY with their 3 children Jack, Emma, and Alex.

They are so deserving of this honor and we are truly grateful for their leadership and shared vision of a world without T1D.
