I can’t think of any better way to spend an evening than hearing about all the research being done to turn Type One into Type None! Earlier this year, my husband and I attended a research dinner for JDRF that was won at auction at the JDRF Hope Gala last fall.
The evening was held at a Le Meridien in uptown Charlotte and began with a cocktail reception where we had the opportunity to speak with JDRF CEO Derek Rapp. While enjoying our delicious dinner and wine pairings prepared by Executive Chef, Oscar La Fuente we were heard from Dr. Mark Atkinson who shared an update regarding research taking place to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Dr. Atkinson’s passion and dedication to helping find a cure for this disease was so apparent. We were pleased to learn that he has been appointed by JDRF to lead a newly reformed external Research Advisory Committee comprised of individuals internationally renowned for their expertise in research as well as their care and treatment for those with T1D.
Please be sure to join us at this year’s JDRF Hope Gala on October 22nd at the Westin in Charlotte. Once again a limited number of individuals will win this unique opportunity during the live auction, so be sure to purchase your ticket to the Gala soon and plan to raise your bid card. I can promise you won’t be disappointed – rather you will be filled with hope when the night is over!
Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming JDRF Hope Gala.
