One Walk, Houston Recap

On October 28th, over 5,000 people gathered at NRG Park for the annual JDRF One Walk in Houston, presented by Lexicon Pharmaceuticals. On an unseasonably cold but beautiful day in Houston (low 40s!), walkers came out to celebrate their fundraising success. The morning started with outstanding performances by the Live Out Loud band, fun games provided by NCL and tasty snacks generously provided by Randalls, Frito Lay, Coca Cola, Snyder Hanover, and Health Warrior. The theme of this yearā€™s event was Super Heroes Unite in celebration of not only the parents and caregivers of those with a loved one with T1D but also the first responders and many volunteers who helped to get Houston back up in running after the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey. Walkers who were diagnosed with type 1 were given an exclusive JDRF T1D Buff Headgear bandana to sport for the day. This yearā€™s Grand Marshal Cody Welborn kicked off the start of the race with a ribbon cutting at the start line. Cody was joined by his family and Lexicon employees. Additional fun was provided by visits from the Houston Texans Cheerleaders and the Houston Fire Department, an interactive Mazda display of vehicles, a rock climbing wall, a petting zoo and a gaming truck.
