Spotlight on Family Walk Teams

What’s better than Walking for a cure? Walking for a cure with your friends!

7 Walk Teams got together and all signed up under the name Space City Type One Connection to support the JDRF One Walk in Houston back on Oct 28th. Together, not only did they raise T1D awareness with their efforts, they also fundraised an impressive total on behalf of JDRF and our shared mission of a cure!

Space City Type One Connection is a more recently formed T1D support group for the Friendswood, Clear Lake, Texas City, Alvin, Galveston areas. The 7 Walk teams that participated were: Friendswood HS Cheerleaders, Sweet Jete, Cora’s Comrades, Team Hope, Carson’s Crusaders, Little Bear and Team Super Syd. JDRF is grateful for the support of these amazing families!

While up in The Woodlands, veteran Walk team Reagan’s Rock Stars took Ruth First. Diabetes Second under their wing and shared with them what JDRF and the Walk is all about. Amy Josefy and her daughter, Reagan started out as mentors for both Rose Cerny and her daughter Ruth who was diagnosed just a year ago. As the friendship grew, these two families decided to experience Walk day together. Combined, these two teams collectively fundraised an incredible total towards a cure. Rose commented that people who she hadn’t really spoken to in ages where donating, it was special seeing the generosity towards others, and one of the best parts is that the kids get to see the magnitude of people who are there supporting them.
