Letter from Board President and Executive Director

We hope that you are finding these monthly newsletters helpful in keeping you connected with the happenings of JDRF and our chapter. Each month you’ll see updates on the research made possible by your donations, read about our donors and those we serve, and receive information on upcoming events and ways you can participate within the chapter.

This past year was very exciting as it relates to advancements through research funded by JDRF, which you can read about through this link: 2017 Progress Report. These breakthroughs create much excitement and hope for our T1D community and as a donor to JDRF, you should take pride in your role in these efforts.

As a chapter, the next few months are incredibly important to us locally and JDRF as a whole. In fact, tomorrow, over 120 golfers and JDRF supporters will take to the links at Memorial Park GC for our JDRF Tee Up to Cure Diabetes golf tournament presented by LECS. Special thanks to our co-chairs, Kelly Williams and David Long, as well as all of our sponsors and participants. It’s sure to be a great day!

Then, only seven short weeks later, on April 21, is our 19th annual Promise Ball, themed “Through the Looking Glass”, chaired this year by Charity and John Todd. This year’s honorees are Linda and Bob Brown, and our corporate honoree is Sendero Energy. Building off of previous year’s successes, we are excited for another incredible night, full of wonderment, passion and hope. Invitations will be hitting homes soon and you can find more information at Jdrf-houston.ejoinme.org/2018PromiseBall. If you are unable to attend but still want to show your support through a Fund A Cure donation, in which 100% goes to research and is 100% tax deductible, you can submit the form included in this link and know you’ll be celebrated during the event.

We hope you all have a great start to spring and that we will see you at an upcoming JDRF event. Thanks again for all you do and your help in making type one, type none.

Sincerely,

Liz Vittor and Rick Byrd
Board President and Executive Director
